Weed Watcher's Workshop: Wednesday, June 7; 6:30 PM

Do you Canoe or Kayak? Enjoy watching wildlife? Go fishing or swimming? Want to learn more about what you see when you’re on the water? The Weed Watcher’s Workshop is for you!

Led by DCR’s Lakes and Ponds Program staff, the 2-hour class begins with an introduction to the invasive non-native species issue, how exotic species are introduced into our waterways, methods of dispersal, basic terminology, and guidance on monitoring. The remaining 3/4 of the class will engage volunteers in hands-on identification.

A variety of non-native and native plant species are provided, and everyone is encouraged to bring their own samples. Volunteers will become familiar with using a key so that they will be able to identify the majority of common aquatic plants in their waterways (native or otherwise).

Students, Water Quality Monitors, New and Current Volunteers are Encouraged to Attend!

Space is Limited! Please register online using this link.
